In the mid-seventies the influence of cables in maximising performance started to be taken very seriously. The specialist cable market was born and QED was at the forefront. Founded by Bob Abraham and Ian Vine in 1973. QED 42 Strand speaker cable was the first product to be launched, soon followed by the famous QED 79 Strand. Both remain in production today. QED has, over the past 40 years, acquired unparalleled knowledge and experience of hi-fi and home cinema cables and connectivity.
Goldring started life in Berlin in 1906 when two Czech born brothers, Heinrich and Julius Scharf, began to manufacture parts for the nascent gramophone industry under the name Gebrüder Scharf. At first the Scharf brothers concentrated on gramophone needles, clockwork motors and governor springs but soon branched out into more sophisticated “sound boxes” – which were the all-acoustic ancestors of the modern magnetic pickup.
